This feels like a really dumb question, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere on either board. Is the speed limit parameter in TuneECU given in mph or kph? If it's kph, then that would explain why my bike seems to run out of oomph around 110mph. Thanks!

In the UK it's in MPH, I assume yours would be the same, as for the continent (and down under) I would assume it would be in KPH.

yes, it is and it's 114 MPH. That would mean close to 120 MPH indicated when considering speedo error.

Thank you. So it is kph then. Does it start to reduce power as it closes on the limit or is it more of a hard limit? Any harm in raising it (aside from the obvious risk of actually going that speed)?

Mines in Klm/hr but then I'm in Australia and we are a metric country . your best bet is to not raise the rev limiter as this setting was put in place to protect both the rider and the engine, sure its usually set at a safe setting which might be a little lower than we would like but at the end of the day 110 mph (well over 200 k's) is about as fast as you would want on this style of bike anyway but then it depends on your national speed limits?

Here.. if you get caught doing those speeds , you won't have to worry about much because it attracts a possible jail term as well as loss of license for 3 years.

I suppose in the state's your allowed to do this speed in which case change the front pulley and increase it which will give you more top end.
obviously you will need another belt ...

It's more FUN !! riding a SLOW bike FAST !! Than riding A FAST bike SLOW !!!

It isn't so much that I intend to travel at those speeds - our speed limits don't allow it either. But I have, just for grins, tried to top her out once or twice, and it feels like it runs into a wall around 105-110mph. So what I was curious about was if it just doesn't breathe anymore at that point, or if I was running up against the speed limiter (185kph = 114mph). Since I've asked the question, I've realized that people tend to hit their top numbers in 5th gear, rather than 6th (which I was using), but I haven't since been in a situation safe to try it again.

Rachael I got my 1700 up to 120 mph, (GPS indicated), before fueling cut out and the engine started stumbling. I had gotten the bike up to the red line in fifth gear, then shifted up to sixth gear to reach top speed. No problem getting to the redline in 5th, but in sixth the fueling stopped before reaching the redline. I do not think it is a rev limit, but a fueling feed control that limits top speed.
